How to stop the rain: Conversational Magic with the Cosmos
My latest book asks: can anyone work effective magic for change in the world, and should we even try?
Details of a spontaneous magical experiment with a group and its effects, the ethical considerations and how to begin to live a magical, connected life.
“This compact little book has more useful information about magic than many weighty tomes. Written in Billington's characteristically accessible style, it presents a comprehensive theory of magic and magical practice in the context of a single excellent, real-world example - an occasion on which the author led a group of students in a spontaneous ceremony that actually stopped the rain. You'll have to read it to find out how this happened… Highly recommended!”

Gwion Dubh: Druid Investigator
This series of Druid Detective novels are exciting magical stories based on sound Druidic principles. Gwion Dubh (pronounced ‘Duv’) is a Druid detective – just a hint of trouble, a dryad’s whisper, a deer’s snort, and off he goes on a new case, dedicated to maintaining the harmony of the land.
The Case of the Meddling Honey and The Case of the Blast from the Past
Gwion Dubh, Druid Private Eye, gets his cases from the Piper in the Greenwood. When the balance of nature is disturbed, he is there, with only a wand, a bag of Druid tricks and the obligatory hipflask. Enter the world of living Druidry, where Gwion enlists the help of faeries, dryads, dragons and guardians of the land to right wrongs and maintain the harmonies - 'for the good of all beings.'
2. Beauty and the Brats
What business does a Druid have with modern-day Viking re-enactors? It will take herbal magic, an abusive wolf-transmogrification and the deathly fight for a precious bride of the islands before Gwion finds the answer. Will a Druid be able to call on the Norse God Woden himself? Or will he have to rely on those two pesky brats?
3. The Case of the Cornish Patsy
Gwion’s off to magical Cornwall, gathering geese, gals, giants and a fanatical geography teacher along the way. His crazy entourage will traverse the length of the county before the final on May Day Morn, taking on some nasty beings who may or may not be myths, legends, nursery rhymes or archetypes. A glimpse into a Druid’s world, building magical relationships in the twenty first century, through a rollicking adventure.
4. The Badger and the Bag
See the world through the eyes of a practicing Druid as Gwion, robed and ready, is called once again to maintain the ancient harmonies. On his very doorstep the last remnants of an endangered species desperately need his help, leading him on a treasure hunt against the clock if he’s to fulfill his commitment to the observance of the Winter solstice.
